Meine van der Meulen
Meine
van der Meulen has been involved in safety and dependability since 1988
when he joined the safety instrumentation department of Dutch Railways. After
that he worked for the Netherlands
Organisation for Applied Scientific Research TNO, where he performed safety
analyses for mainly chemical industry and off-shore operations. He joined SIMTECH
Engineering in 1994, concentrating on traffic (mainly
railways, but also shipping) and infrastructure (mainly storm surge barriers and
tunnels). From 2003 to 2005 he combined a position as research fellow at the Centre
for Software Reliability and safety consultant at Adelard,
both in London.
Meine van der Meulen holds an M.Sc. degree in Electrotechnical Engineering
from Eindhoven University, where
he specialised in Measurement and Control. His thesis resulted in a patent on an
algorithm to increase the speed of random access in a CD-ROM player. He also
holds a degree in Dutch Law from the Dutch Open
University. He speaks Dutch, German and English fluently, and reads French
and Norwegian.
Meine van der Meulen is a member
the Dutch Society for Risk Analysis
and Dependability, and the IEEE
Reliability Society. He is member of the International Program Committee of
the yearly Safecomp
conference.
